(NOT Accepting applications until further notice.)
Nepali Women’s Global Network (NWGN) is pleased to present Mary Interlandi Memorial Scholarship Fund to its deserving members of Nepali origin for advancing her professional career by improving her education academically. We feel honored and sincerely appreciate Mary Interlandi’s parents for funding this scholarship for the betterment of Nepali women living in North America
Mary Interlandi was an amazing, young woman who loved African drumming, dance, theater, art, and poetry. When she was 17, she traveled to Nepal for 6 weeks. She hiked to and lived with a family in the village of Manang where she worked to help build a school, to teach its students, and to learn as much as she could about the Nepali people. Mary fell in love with the culture, and the experience changed the course of her life. She studied Buddhism, feminist theory, and eastern philosophy at Brown University until her untimely death at age 19 ½ in 2003. Mary always planned to go back to Nepal. She would be very proud to know that she was a part of NWGN and its important work to help Nepali women.
The Nepali Women’s Global Network promotes networking, support and self-reliance among Nepali women through education, advocacy, service and collaboration with groups with similar missions. | |
